Flag Football FAQ

Flag Frequently Asked Questions

Who can play flag football?

Our flag program is open to Kindergarten-4th grade boys and girls who want to learn the fundamentals of football in a recreational and fun environment appropriate for this age group. Kids who live in or go to school in the Lincoln Boundary can join our team!

Kids will be broken into teams by grade level, with typically 7-10 kids per team. The flag program is a great way to learn skills and team play that are different from other youth sports.

Registration

Registration is $150 and opens on May 1st. Early Bird discount of $25 goes through May 31st, 2023.

Players will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to the game to warm up. Games consist of two twenty minute halves with a 5 minute half time for K- 2nd grade. 3/4th grade flag play two 25 minute halves.

how is the game played?

Youth flag football is 5 on 5 and is considered a "non-contact" sport similar in physical play to youth soccer or basketball - no pads required.

What equipment is required?

Each player needs to provide their own cleats, black shorts and a mouth guard. LYF will provide Lincoln Jerseys, flags/belts & soft shell helmets.

Flag Football players will be wearing soft shell helmets by Gamebreaker. For more information visit their website.
